Live

Live Overview

Ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro has taken the four-string, two-octave instrument to places no one has gone before, performing awesome music that ranges from Jazz, Blues and Rock to Bluegrass, Classical and Folk. His live concerts are an out-of-the-box blend of stunning virtuosity, deep musicality and a natural entertainer's flair. Jake now has his own record label, and tours extensively in the U.S. and Japan. He has completely rewritten the book on the possibilities of the ukulele -- and is adding new chapters with every CD he records.

Customer Reviews

I caught Jake Shimabukuro in Austin, recently, fresh from a tour with Jimmy Buffett TX. In the live performance was a miracle, his body fell to the ground and waving his fingers flew up and down the keyboard of his ukulele short so that the instrument sounds like a mandolin, flamenco guitar, a piano and various percussion tools. He was not only a player of Smokin 'Hot, though, but a musical style, with a charm in his casual asides to the audience, that I was the night, there wasenthusiastic.

Charisma Shimabukuro pass on this live album taken from various shows in different places, but very consistent in tone and atmosphere. His works include the entire range from the simple charm of the "Piano Forte" for the breathtaking virtuosity of "Let's Dance", and covers everything from Bach to the Beatles, a popular Japanese song "Sakura".

When pressed to the wall, I must admit that without him inMeat, a small sense of similarity creeps in some of his most personal. It is not surprising that one of the best tracks, and who shot him to fame, is a cover to make her beautiful and touching Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." This is a very personal book, and should not discourage anyone from sampling the art of this very special music.
