The Essential Bruce Springsteen

The Essential Bruce Springsteen Overview

2003 career retrospective from the boss! This strictly limited Australian exclusive edition comes with a bonus disc of rarities, live and previously unreleased tracks on 3 CDs. Columbia.

The Essential Bruce Springsteen Specifications

Vastly expanding 1995's single disc Greatest Hits, The Essential Bruce Springsteen easily surpasses the earlier best-of set by serving up all its true essentials and tossing in less appreciated treats and a full disc of rarities. Disc one spans the first decade of Springsteen's recording career, serving up at least two tracks each from the six albums that laid the groundwork for his '80s burst into superstardom. Disc two picks up with his mainstream breakthrough, 1984's Born in the U.S.A., and carries on through 2002's The Rising, tossing in live recordings of "American Skin" and "Land of Hope and Dreams" for good measure. The selections and sequencing surpass those made on Greatest Hits, though there's not too much in the way of surprises, other than that it appears that Born in the U.S.A. hasn't aged all that well for the Boss; here, he selects only three songs from the hit-laden smash, one fewer than is found on the skimpy Greatest Hits. Disc three is where the fun really starts for all but neophytes. The live "Held Up Without a Gun" is as gutsy a one minute and 20 seconds as Springsteen as one could ask for, and the likes of "Trapped," "Countin' on a Miracle," and a cover of "Viva Las Vegas" rank with his signature songs. --Steven Stolder

Customer Reviews

The most important item in the music of the last 35 years, creating the most important recordings in the career of Bruce Springsteen on three discs (including a few cuts including never released outtakes really important that the inclusion in the first two missing discs counterpart) is not as no easy task. For every "Born To Run" and "Dancing In The Dark" is included, there is a "Growin 'Up" and "Backstreets", missed the cut that is.

"The Essential Bruce Springsteen" is theComposition in question, and despite the obvious omissions, it takes a good job as a whole. You can achieve the timeless rock anthems that are formed almost mythical figure in Bruce, now helped ("Born To Run," "Badlands"), the epic story with unforgettable characters and local songs ("Thunder Road", "Jungleland" ), the classic hit singles ("Hungry Heart," "Glory Days") and the performance of the last days ("The Rising," "Lonesome Day"). In the middle, you get a large number of forgotten gems, such asas (much better than the most famous Manfred Mann Cover), "Blinded By The Light," "For You", "Tunnel Of Love", and some of Bruce has underestimated the period 1992-1997 (The Haunting "Youngstown" is, unfortunately, missing another gem from this period). To launch a couple of superlatives in this collection are the songs remastered and sound fantastic.

The third disc also contains some welcome treat. Two songs, this collection of the 2003 version, still available only byinveterate collectors finally pop up "County Fair" and the sublime Outtake "Born In The USA", "None But The Brave." On "The River" Outtake "Held Up Without A Gun", with the common voice of Bruce and Little Steven Van Zandt, in his (to 2008) only presents live performances from the famous 1980 New Years Eve show at Nassau Coliseum. Among other gems "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)," the ethereal "Lift Me Up", written for the John Sayles film "Limbo", but neverBruce on compilations so far, and "Dead Man Walkin '," an unsettling composition by Sean Penn / Susan Sarandon film of the same name.

As already mentioned, had a number of classics of the career of Bruce, in order to make the cut, and its absence is certainly considerable and obvious. This does not mean that this is still a solid bottom for the beginning of Springsteen fans, a crash course on some of the greatest music ever recorded.

YES! Buy "Baby Time signature" products, if your kids / to learn sign language are concerned. This is our third attempt to buy a DVD signing. The first two were developed for children, but they were useless. We have thrown away after a clock. This video is a perfect rhythm and hand movements are clearly demonstrated. We have six children. We knew that most or all of the characters by heart after only one or two guards. It will definitely be buying more of this brand, and maintain. Go Super Fun.

The Wiggles - Dance Party

The Wiggles - Dance Party Feature

  • WIGGLES

The Wiggles - Dance Party Overview

Studio: Lions Gate Home Ent. Release Date: 03/06/2007 Rating: Nr

The Wiggles - Dance Party Specifications

The Wiggles, that wacky outfit wowing kids from Down Under, welcome preschoolers for a lively, loopy musical fiesta on their sixth release, Dance Party. In addition to Murray, Greg, Jeff, and Anthony, Oz's answer to the Fab Four, chiming in on this 15-song charmer of a dance- and sing-along are the usual wiggly suspects--Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, Captain Feathersword, and the remarkably light-on-her-feet hostess of the party, Dorothy the Dinosaur. Along with all the fancy footwork, expect the frenetic pace of all Wiggles offerings (nobody's attention span is apt to be challenged by a 15-segment, 40-minute video), but also expect a less polished production than in previous titles. The gang's unfamiliar hair styles and other telltale clues bear the trappings of an early performance. Which in no way dilutes the fun-for-all delirium. In fact, the goofier-than-ever gags and graceful child dance troupes featured on a couple of numbers here propel this tape into top-shelf Wiggles territory. Songs include "Can You Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist?," "Wags the Dog," "Five Little Joeys," "Di Dicki Do Dum," "I'm a Cow," "Do the Flap," "On Your Holiday," "Hat on My Head," "The Magic Bag," "Brown Girl in the Ring," "Georgia's Song," "Our Boat Is Rocking on the Sea," "Nicky Nacky Nocky Noo," "Dorothy's Dance Party," and "The Big Red Car." --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Reviews

Yes, the poor quality of production, it seems that Anthony's hair does not even have a mirror, and in half the scenes Anthony on a short-sleeved shirt / long sleeve. However, it is still my favorite.

Dance Party was the first introduction of our family at the Wiggles in 2003. My son (now 5 1 / 2) had a huge obsession right Wiggles, when the first success began in the United States.

The songs were stupid and funny, while many of the success seems they ran out of ideasand still felt compelled to write songs to keep, no matter how stupid they are. Maybe I feel this way because these are the Wiggles songs that I knew them, but do not hold all the Wiggles videos we have after (almost 10!) Easy.

Maybe it's because I've seen a million times before they even had a car "real" Big Red, but it's something attractive for their four children and props from cardboard, which is more original and refreshing on trade, above the video that followed.

Opeth - In Live Concert At The Royal Albert Hall (2DVD)

Opeth - In Live Concert At The Royal Albert Hall (2DVD) Overview

Double-DVD set of Opeth's performance at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, in its entirety.
As part of the ongoing celebration of their 20th anniversary, Sweden's Opeth is releasing live footage and audio from the band's recent performance at London's famed Royal Albert Hall. 'In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall' is a fierce testament to Opeth's continued success in the progressive metal community. Opeth performed two sets that evening - the first of the now classic, 'Blackwater Park' in its entirety and the second, a chronologically arranged selection of material from the rest of Opeth's extensive catalogue.
Bonus features include an exclusive interview and the behind-the-scenes documentary, 'On Tour with Opeth.' DVD's are in 5.1 Dolby surround sound, produced and mixed by Jens Bogren.

Customer Reviews

This double-DVD contains almost 3 hours of concert footage and witnesses Opeth Death Metal lead in the halls of culture, "are linked to the often hilarious Mikael Ã…kerfeldt. The first set is a complete performance of" Blackwater Park "album, which many consider the masterpiece of the band. The second movement brings fans over the years and the development of Opeth, when the band plays a song from each of their albums in chronological order. Akerfeldt remains calm in a targeted mannerthe sentence, despite the audience asked him to say something. I think it's because they do not want to interrupt the flow of the songs. In the second set, but he is much more talkative and tells you a lot of anecdotes and jokes between songs, much more fun Death Metal singer I've ever seen. But everything on the one hand is the strong performance of the band, with all the expertise you expect. It is an unfortunate technical problem technical in "The Lotus Eater"Newcomer of the guitar Fredrik Akesson, but the band keeps the public to be solved, and things. All in all, this DVD is a must have for fans of Opeth worldwide.

Power To The People: The Hits

Power To The People: The Hits Overview

2010 collection of solo recordings from the former Beatle, released to coincide with what would have been his 70th birthday. Power To The People: The Hits gathers 15 of Lennon's most popular songs, digitally remastered and restored to John's original audio mixes

Customer Reviews

Thus, the 70th anniversary of the birth of John Lennon (10/9/40) there is a series published by remastered ... released. Among the new record is one thing, another hits collection. The music here is, of course, 6 stars, but the only plus to this package than others is the remastering. The old John Lennon Collection has more songs, as well as Lennon Legend, and of course the 2-Disc Working Class Hero is more than twice as much. They all sound great to me. In most cases, this is what I miss is Beautiful Boy, Mother, Nobody ToldMe There is no reason why this has not been a good 18-20 songs. There is a version of which comes with a DVD of videos, when you need it. Happy Birthday John ... missed you.

The Altar and the Door

The Altar and the Door Overview

After two Platinum-selling albums (Casting Crowns & Lifesong), one Platinum and one Gold live project (Live from Atlanta & Lifesong Live), numerous awards, and one of the most successful headlining tours in our industry, one might expect a different Casting Crowns. Those who meet this exceptional group, however, quickly realize they are still the same down-to-earth people with ministry at the heart of what they do both on the road, and in their local churches where each of the members serve on-staff or as laypeople, including lead singer/songwriter Mark Hall who still holds his post as youth pastor at his home church.

Casting Crowns third album, The Altar and The Door, draws on this first-hand ministry experience with real people, real life struggle and the faith that overcomes. At the altar, everything makes sense, says Hall. When we re in the church and spending time with God, we know what we re supposed to do and how to live. Everything is black and white. But somewhere between the altar and the door, when we leave and go out into our lives, it all leaks out. Everything gets gray again. It s like we have these two lives, and the Christian life is the journey between the altar and door....trying to get the things you ve got in your head, into your hands, into your feet, and into your life. This album is all about that journey of realization, the struggles we encounter and the victory of seeing it as possible.

The band is excited about the next ministry chapter to unfold, and is already planning Fall and Spring legs of The Altar and The Door Tour. With the debut radio single hitting in June and widespread media coverage starting late summer through the fall, this album is set to be another phenomenal release setting records and, more importantly, impacting hearts.

The Altar and the Door Specifications

When you've become one of contemporary Christian music's biggest stars, there are a lot of temptations to change your sound or tone the message down a little to reach a larger audience. But the anthemic, guitar-based Casting Crowns simply use their music as a pulpit ever more. Despite (or, perhaps, because of) all the world tours, platinum records, and Dove and Grammy awards, the members of the band still serve as ministers at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. This is honest and often gorgeous music that deals with doubt and pain, and how difficult it can be to live up to one's principles. "Slow Fade," an irresistibly slow-burning number, counsels listeners not to stray: ""People never crumble in a day, it's a slow fade." The album's two covers--a rousing take of Steve Fee's "All Because of Jesus" and a spirited version of Chandler's "I Know You're There"--count among the album's many highlights. --Mike McGonigal

Customer Reviews

This album is great musically and has a message that resonates with all Christians who struggle with their feet. Both challenging and exciting. Positive Christian best CD I've ever heard.

I bought this on a whim after hearing a few songs and I am glad I did. Priscilla songwriting is incredible and his voice sounds on this album. Axioma Ethica Odini

Axioma Ethica Odini Overview

Axioma Ethica Odini may seem at first listen like an unexpected step, but when the ever-changing yet distinct growth in their sound is taken into account, this is an organic progression. Enslaved are deeply rooted in the Norwegian black metal sound but have grown over the past decade into an almost unclassifiable and increasingly popular band without shirking their roots or trying to please anyone but themselves. It is in this deep sense of individuality that they shine as a cohesive group who constantly stun and delight fans with music that challenges and soothes at any given moment.

Their homeland has always influenced their sound and lyrics and Axioma is no different. They constantly redefine the Norwegian experience by giving nod to their Viking forefathers while simultaneously linking to the present and the unforeseeable and exciting future. Indefinable and grandiose, honest and unearthly, dark and beautiful, Enslaved are an enigma that their swiftly expanding fanbase have grown to love and respect.

Customer Reviews

Enslaved are an odd lot. Elements of black metal screams and her voice is still present, but the musical muscle here Enslaved to pieces and put them in / Opeth Katatonia field, though not a clone with a band. As a fan of voice, the clean vocals are a refreshing break, and hopefully, if I like, tired of the grunts and screams, clean vocals are the rule, because it is so much musical depth gives the proceedings.
Enslaved were different thanand described as a kind of Black Metal Pink Floyd, but I do not really hear the comparisons. Floyd at its best ("The Wall") was much quieter. It touches upon the addition of keyboards and distorted guitar chord of the work courtesy Ice Dale crossed the glory days of Voivod to Opeth and Porcupine Tree.
That is, "Ethica Axioma Odin" is a great release on his own. Blistering guitars and fast beats to stop them from proggy, and innovative song structuresThey want more. Not in this band psychedelia, though. Spacey psychedelic elements of quiet, not the function of black metal on the left. However, the keyboards to help the background noise. Now the pit, shouting and singing, and I would add the fifth star.

The Steeldrivers

The Steeldrivers Overview

With one foot in the field and the other in the factory, The SteelDrivers are a beacon beaming their own version of rhythm'n'bluegrass far across the musical landscape. Highly regarded behind the scenes as songsmiths and session men - with innumerable hits, cuts, and licks to their credit - The SteelDrivers are stepping out at long last. In their ten capable hands, back-country high-lonesome collides with Delta soul, resulting in the freshest sound to emerge from Music City in recent memory. Via eleven original songs, their debut album offers revealing new takes on classic themes of redemption and loss, hope and home delivered with urgency and heart. The SteelDrivers are Richard Bailey, Mike Fleming, Mike Henderson, Tammy Rogers, and Chris Stapleton. "Really soulful bluegrass, with great songs. An incredible combination." -Vince Gill

Customer Reviews

Got this CD yesterday and have already decided that one of the best CDs I've bought in recent years, friends. The first three songs ("Blue Side of the Mountain," "Drinkin 'Dark Whiskey" and "Midnight Train to Memphis") are worth the price of the CD. Chris Stapleton's voice is gritty and powerful, while Tammy Rodgers' top blues harmonies are dead. And speaking of Tammy Rodgers, it's all about playing the violin some of the most aggressive, clean lines you will hear anywhere.Hell, if everyone in the band up to it in his pocket on every song. The banjo player adds a lot of nice fills and solos and is definitely not a slave to Scruggs-style pickin '. As a previous reviewer, I also wondered why the mandolin player was not there that sounds great article on his few solos and when playing back-up as well. After saying how well the band plays and sings, let me say now that the best part of the CD is actually the original song. Great tunes, really do not sound much like most of the bluegrass out there, even if they are well rooted in this style. I suspect it will itself be the hardcore bluegrass traditionalist position to deny the charm of this music. Pop in your player and get ready to rock!

The Who: The Ultimate Collection

The Who: The Ultimate Collection Overview

This fully comprehensive 2CD collection charts the career of one of the most significant and formidable bands of all time. All tracks have been 24-bit digitally remastered.

The Who: The Ultimate Collection Specifications

The Who's mighty catalog of beautiful, poignant, and often silly pop songs bashed out with Cassius Clay finesse has suffered in the past at the hands of multiple, butcher-shop best-ofs and horrible packaging. But this thrilling band--undeniably one of ye classicke rocke's greatest--gets the career-spanning entry-point compilation it deserves with the double-disc Ultimate Collection. The songs included here are no-brainers, for the most part--if they aren't huge hits like "My Generation," "I Can See for Miles," or "Baba O'Riley," they're long-standing fan favorites such as "Boris the Spider," "Pure and Easy," and "Squeeze Box." And while this reviewer wishes different songs were chosen from Tommy, and more than one tune was gathered from their arguably finest (and definitely silliest) album, The Who Sell Out, this record really isn't for fans (aside from the total trainspotter types) but for newcomers. --Mike McGonigal

Customer Reviews

This is Rock and Roll at its best. large type, which sets out actions that are leading others, but the raw power of their performance, is also on several sides. Even now, as their recent Super Bowl performance, are still above most of what he has to do only half of age. This is a good collection of their greatest hits, go beyond the existing collections, everything from their history. If you are a fan for a long time and have been a lot of this stuff on vinyl orCassette, this is a good way to show your collection of music that the update with a single purchase. Are you a fan again, this is probably the best package "hits", you see, and you're good vision.

Waiting for Columbus (Bonus CD) (Dlx)

Waiting for Columbus (Bonus CD) (Dlx) Overview

Deluxe edition of Little Feat's classic 1978 live album plus 10 bonus tracks (7 of them previously unreleased). Disc 2 features the previously unissued outtakes 'One Love Stand', 'Rock And Roll Doctor', 'Skin It Back', 'On Your Way Down', 'Walkin All Night', 'Cold, Cold, Cold', 'Day At The Dog Races' & 3 outtakes first issued on Hoy Hoy! 'Skin It Back', 'Red Streamliner' & 'Teenage Nervous Breakdown'. Slipcase.

Waiting for Columbus (Bonus CD) (Dlx) Specifications

Few rock concert documents can match this 1978 live album for sheer musicianship, or for its full-blooded representation of one of the best live bands ever. Little Feat's turbulent '70s pilgrimage had been studded with commercial detours when its second incarnation as a swampy, blues-rock sextet clicked musically, and these English and American dates, beautifully recorded by George Massenburg, capture the band in all its rowdy, precise glory. The late Lowell George's influence had been damped down in the studio, deferring to his bandmates' writing and singing, but Columbus is dominated by his gruff, lyrical vocal presence and the mercurial tang of his indelible slide guitar. With the Tower of Power Horns aboard to inject razor-sharp horn work, this romp through the Feat songbook of southern-fried rock represents a satisfying summation of the band's best works, every bit as engaging as their studio models. This is simmering, smart music measured by an honor roll of great songs with no lapses. The only caveat--and a minor one--is the deletion of two tracks to squeeze the original two LPs onto a single CD. --Sam Sutherland

Crossroads

Crossroads Overview

THREE CHILDHOOD BEST FRIENDS, AND A GUY THEY JUST MET, TAKE A TRIP ACROSS THE COUNTRY, FINDING THEMSELVES AND THEIR FRIENDSHIP IN THE PROCESS.

Crossroads Specifications

Pop idol Britney Spears stars in this sweet coming-of-age movie about three childhood friends who've grown apart, but find out they may still have a lot in common. After graduating from high school, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Zoe Saldana), and Mimi (Taryn Manning) decide to take a road trip to L.A. to audition for a record label. Along the way, there's a lot of heartbreak and female bonding (not to mention a lot of midriff-baring--in her first scene, Spears jumps on her bed in her underwear, singing along to a Madonna song), as each of the three girls learns more about herself and life. Crossroads could have been trite schmaltz, but the script has some grit and the direction is fresh and relaxed--and, most significantly, Spears is far more sympathetic and engaging than you might expect. Also featuring Dan Aykroyd and Kim Cattrall. --Bret Fetzer
