Use Your Illusion 2 Specifications
Had Use Your Illusion II been combined with Use Your Illusion I, keeping only the best material while dropping the filler, it would have been one of the best rock albums ever recorded. Instead, great songs like "Civil War," "14 Years," "Estranged," and "So Fine" compete with the inexcusable "Get in the Ring" and the well-intentioned but off-target cover of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." There's no point to the second version of "Don't Cry," either. On the other hand, when Guns N' Roses were good, they were very, very good, and some of the material on this album is unsurpassable. --Genevieve Williams
Customer Reviews
Like many of the contributions over UYI II, this album is a masterpiece of awesome quality, which is a euphemism.
For any rock fan, this CD is an absolutely essential and I ask you to listen properly.
With appetite, based GNR is dangerous, hard-rock band that wrote about drugs, alcohol, and generally covered the same areas every rock band. Thus, the strong emotions on their next two albums reached a complete contrast.
But whatremained was the ability the whole band, the music does not repeat or write and share with each song a unique blend of excellent guitar work, a classic rhythm section that is often overlooked, and Axl's vocal ability and songwriting talent excellent.
Of the two albums that contains more of the longer songs, the band representing the best work.
Elongated ballads, rock songs as long abstract are lined with classic hard rock you'd expect from such aBand. This variety, in my opinion, is what this is one of the best albums of all time, if not at the top makes.
"Estranged" is more an art than a song - It starts with a whisper that Axl send rain on the back. The song then turns into an epic with such an amazing guitar line of Slash is hard to believe that was created by a mortal man, ballad.
It captures the essence of sadness, human relationships and feelings with perfection.
With too many songs like this, there is no place to go all over.
"Civil War" is an abstract tone of the guitar effects are Slash, where the song. Also completely different from drug abuse, is this political protest to a party rock ballad and accusatory against other monsters. All accessible by intelligent lyrics and emotional guitar work, accompanied by just under eight minutes long, is another epic of the GNR.
"Loco" is one of my favorites -during the main part, is a hard rock song visit to abstract and confusing aspects of life, burden on the mind and heart. The guitar is back in this one - Slash uses a tone, the song fits perfectly.
The culmination of this amazing is the instrumental section at the end. As Axl finished his final metaphor (there are hundreds in the song), breaks the music of a piano gently guided, abstract rhythm. Ghost-like lyrics - "Love is so strange" - are repeated, sothe strangest feeling. Sprinkled with this exciting piece of music played Slash completely smooth, mute strings with another strange effect. This meeting in force and you are lost, the world pick up as the song in a monotone increasing and the guitar solo break in - all of perfection achieved and how the different instruments come together is a tribute to the band skills.
In short, this album is much more than a collection of songs.Your connection to bare the human condition is present and is merely a work of genius.
