The fact that Genius Loves Company will be Ray Charles's final new album inspires an unavoidable blue feeling. But it's also a happy reminder that the man spent the last months of his life at work doing what he loved. The overall effect of these dozen duets is autumnal and smooth. Brother Ray is on point and cruising here. Fine moments abound--you can hear his delight even in the rather stiff company of Diana Krall and Natalie Cole. His voice sounds a bit frayed by ill health at times, but it also allows for great performances like the slyness behind the ache in his version of the old soul hit "Hey Girl" with Michael McDonald and a grand "Crazy Love" with Van Morrison. Potently, he and Gladys Knight remind us of the continued timeliness of Stevie Wonder's "Heaven Help Us All." Its best moments make Company one more essential purchase for Ray Charles fans. --Rickey Wright

Ray's voice is very small, and Fraile, but remember the man who was 74 (seventy-four) years! There is no let-me-get-on-the phone-and-play-this-for one-to-play songs here. "Here We Go Again" with Norah Jones was the cut that many of the Grammy Awards, won ... How? ... We'll never know (they say games against the version "original" of 1967, and then me, that sounds a lot better?). A total of 14 (fourteen) won a Grammy Award for the album! I truly believe that thiswas awarded the Grammy voters, and say all the other easy-to-RAY CHARLES, THANKS TO GIVE U.S. MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF HISTORY Performing shots!
Album highlights: "Hey Girl" with Michael McDonald, "Over The Rainbow" with Johnny Mathis, was conducted during the separation of the body believed Ray during his television address Homegoing Service ... That should tell you how great this song!, Is "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison. That was a nice way of a long career in this field that we call music. NowThe story does not end here ... Rhino / Atlantic commuter traffic released an album of duets recorded in 1997-1998 under the title "Genuis And Friends," which is an album best, but because of Rhino tries to cash in "Genius Loves Company," is was met with so-so reviews, lackluster sales and Light airplay, but it's worth it in your collection. In 2005, there was a box set that, in all his recordings Atlantic Records (1952-1959). There was a lot of surprises, because if Ray signed with ABC RecordsEnd of 1959, Atlantic was grab almost everything in the cellars and releasing albums and singles, so there are no big surprises on the box set. If I save enough $ $ $, it seems to me a copy (and make sure not ... Stay tuned!).
End of 1959, Ray signed with ABC Records, who have complete control over his recordings. That idea, that he (Ray) done with them (ABC), would give birth to Gren, so that the early years (1959-1964) who had several singles that never managed toAlbum (Not that they were bad, were not exactly easy for the exit of the disc included). What you see are still at least 12 (twelve) from the moment the light on compact disc! And another 12 (twelve) or more, 1965-1973. In 1965, Ray opened his studio RPMs and the core of his shots were there until his death in June 0f 2004 Ray will remain with ABC Records, for a total of 14 years! So you can imagine how many unreleased recordings, sitting in the basement? AndThis is only the ABC years (1959-1973). In 1974, Ray formed Crossover Records and released several independent albums ... They have a contract with Atlantic Records (with its imprint Records crossover). So, in short, there is a wealth of unreleased recordings! I hope that some record company makes us happy, a day before ... The only thing we can do now is hope.
